Ministries and Outrech

Deacon Ministry

 Purpose:
Our purpose is to glorify God by serving His body through caring for the operational aspects of the church.

Deaconess Ministry

Purpose:
As spiritual leaders, the deaconesses will aid the Pastor and assist the deacons in serving and enhancing the spiritual life of the women members of the church, and others as directed or requested by the Pastor. Internal instructional activities and outreach ministries are also expected to help foster the growth of the church and service to the community.

Missions Ministry

 Purpose:
This ministry has taken an avid interest in many civic and religious activities. This ministry serves the sick and shut-ins in the church, the community and some of the nursing homes residents. We also contribute to the financial needs of our church, and make holiday contributions at Thanksgiving and Christmas to the Food Bank and Meals on Wheels.

DHBC Newsletter

The first official publication of DHBC newsletter was in January 2001. The newsletter, published four times a year, aspires to spread the gospel, promote goodwill, and keep the congregation informed. Ministers’ Pen with Dr. James Gafford on the first page is filled with thought provoking messages. The Congratulations section often includes recognition of recipients for awards from school and community, acknowledgement and appreciation to members who contributed to the community in various ways.We welcome information about the special attributes or habits about members’ friends, family member of a special person.

OHOP

One Hour of Prayer (OHOP) is our Sunday morning time of study, prayer, and fellowship. From 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM, we gather to dive into God’s Word and grow together in faith.

Unlike a traditional Sunday School, OHOP is interactive and discussion-based. We explore various parts of the Bible, ask questions, and share insights that help us apply God’s truth to our daily lives.

Join Us Every Sunday:
🕤 Time: 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
📍 Location: Diamond Hill Baptist Church
💻 Online Option: Can’t make it in person? Join us on Zoom!

Whether you’re a longtime believer or just beginning your journey of faith, OHOP is a welcoming space to learn, grow, and pray together.

DHBC Mass Choir

 Purpose:
The word of God orders our steps through song as we set the atmosphere for worship, praise, and ministry to the congregation.

Special Events:
The Mass choir hosts the annual Black History Repast each February.

Men’s Chorus

 History:
Under the leadership of Robert O. Davis, the Diamond Hill Baptist Church Men’s Chorus was organized in 1950. Mr. Davis, a former lead singer for the world renowned Wings Over Jordan Choir, directed the Men’s Chorus until 1955. At that time Mr. W. T. Haskins, Jr. became director of the group, a position which he held until he entered the military in 1987.

Usher Ministry

 Purpose:
Provide ushers at the doors and throughout the sanctuary at all worship services. Assist the Pastor and maintain order and an atmosphere of reverence during worship services.

Youth Fellowship

 Purpose:

The Youth Ministry is dedicated to guiding young people in their walk with Christ while helping them grow as leaders in the church and the community. We believe in providing a Christ-centered foundation through worship, service, and fellowship.

What We Do:

  • Jr. Church – A time of age-appropriate worship and teaching for our youth

  • Fellowship & Trips – Fun activities, outings, and opportunities to build strong friendships

  • Community Service – Serving others and sharing the love of Christ in action

  • Leadership Opportunities – Youth lead our worship service every third Sunday

  • Youth Sunday – Every fifth Sunday is dedicated to youth-led worship and celebration

Our Goal:
To nurture young believers, build character through service, and raise up the next generation of spiritual leaders.
